Good for our health. Good for our economy. Good for our environment.

Environmental Initiative’s work to reduce emissions and improve air quality through Project Green Fleet benefits all Minnesotans. To date, Project Green Fleet has made the following impacts:

  • Pollution control equipment installed on over 3,000 school buses
  • Over 400 heavy-duty vehicles retrofitted with pollution control and idle reduction equipment
  • Reduced around 23.5 tons of particulate matter (PM) annually, the equivalent of removing 350,000 cars from the road each year
  • Saved over $1 million per year in estimated health care costs by reducing exposure to pollutants found in diesel exhaust
  • Reduced soot and smog in the air, which if left unchecked could cost Minnesota businesses $270 million per year
  • Implemented educational programs about air quality and the benefits of emission and idle reduction efforts

Our work isn’t done. We need your help spreading the word about our voluntary efforts to clean up diesel engines. Get Involved »
