Environmental Initiative’s Project Green Fleet has grown from a small pilot-scale project to a robust, statewide effort to reduce diesel emissions. Environmental Initiative plans to install pollution control equipment on all eligible school buses in Minnesota, an estimated 4,000 school buses.

Installed pollution control equipment on over 3,000 school buses allowing 300,000 children to breath easier

Retrofitted, repowered or upgraded more than 400 heavy-duty diesel engines including trucks, transit buses, trains and construction equipment

Reduced particulate matter (PM) emissions by over 20 tons, the equivalent of removing 350,000 cars from the road annually

Reduced hydrocarbon (HC) emissions by over 150 tons

Reduced carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by over 250 tons

Implemented educational programs about emission and idle reduction efforts

Facilitates Clean Air Minnesota Steering Committee, a collaborative effort to keep Minnesota’s air clean
