Awards

The work of Project Green Fleet and our many partners have not gone unnoticed. Environmental Initiative has received the following awards and recognition for diesel emission reduction efforts through Project Green Fleet:

  • 2008 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Clean Air Excellence Award, one of only two winners nationally in the community action category. 
  • 2009 Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative Leadership Award, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region V for significant, measurable improvements in air quality through the development and implementation of clean diesel actions. 
  • 2009 Minnesota Governor’s Award for Pollution Prevention, recognizing superior environmental achievement by Minnesota’s businesses, nonprofits, government and institutions.

Shared Strategies for Cleaner Air 

Environmental Initiative works with a group of stakeholders from business, government and nonprofits to coordinate Project Green Fleet and other air quality issues facing the state. The Clean Air Minnesota Steering Committee meets quarterly to discuss diesel emission reduction strategies and other collaborative air quality projects. Learn More »

In 2009, Environmental Initiative drafted the State Diesel Emission Reduction Strategy along with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other Clean Air Minnesota Steering Committee members. Read More »

Financial Support

Environmental Initiative raises money from public and private sources to fund emission and exposure reduction activities through Project Green Fleet. To date, Environmental Initiative has received the following support:

  • Federal Grants - $4.78 million
  • State and Local Government Grants - $2.96 million
  • Private Sector Support - $1.1 million
  • Foundation Support - $315,000
